Rwanda Celebrates 30 Years of Liberation with Military and Police Parade

On July 4, 2024, Rwanda celebrated 30 years of liberation with grand festivities at the newly renovated Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The event was marked by an impressive parade featuring the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP), the first of its kind in five years.

The parade was initiated by the military band playing a popular contemporary song titled “Nta ntambara.” This song is known for its unique ability to inspire patriotism and unity among Rwandans. The band’s exceptional performance delighted the attendees.

Twelve contingents participated in the parade: nine from the RDF and three from the RNP. The RDF showcased various demonstrations, highlighting their capabilities in national defense and security operations. The police also exhibited their daily duties in maintaining internal peace and security.

In his address, President Paul Kagame commended the military and police for their dedication to safeguarding the nation and promoting peace and security. He stated, “Today, we celebrate our victory. It is a moment to honor those who played a part in our liberation struggle and to appreciate their bravery.”

The large crowd that attended the event expressed joy and a strong desire to continue building the nation. Many attendees noted that such parades are a valuable opportunity to remember the country’s history and honor those who fought for its independence.

The celebrations concluded with various cultural dances and songs, showcasing the unity and camaraderie of Rwandans. Liberation Day is not only a day of festivity but also a reminder that together, Rwandans can build a better nation. It emphasizes the importance of unity and patriotism as the foundation for development and national pride.

The 30th Liberation Anniversary celebrations underscored the collaboration, dedication, and love of Rwandans in their ongoing quest for peace and national progress.
