In a rousing address on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, during a presidential campaign in Kirehe District, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, and chairman of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (FPR Inkotanyi), delivered a scathing critique of his predecessors, condemning their governance as detrimental to the nation and pledging to prioritize development and unity among Rwandans.

Speaking to a captivated audience, Kagame did not hold back in his assessment of previous administrations. “Our people have endured the consequences of poor and irresponsible leadership for far too long,” Kagame declared. “It is imperative that we reverse these harmful effects and focus on building a prosperous and united Rwanda.”

Kagame’s critique reflects a widespread sentiment among Rwandans who feel let down by the actions of past leaders. Highlighting issues such as economic instability, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient social services, Kagame emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive reforms to address these long-standing problems.

Under Kagame’s leadership, Rwanda has already seen notable advancements in healthcare, education, and technology. His administration’s commitment to good governance, anti-corruption measures, and innovative policies has been widely acknowledged on the global stage. Despite these achievements, Kagame stressed that there is still significant work to be done to repair the damage caused by previous mismanagement.

To achieve this vision, Kagame outlined a series of ambitious initiatives focused on accelerating development and enhancing living standards. These initiatives include substantial investments in renewable energy, the expansion of healthcare services, and educational reforms designed to equip the youth with essential skills for the future. Kagame also highlighted the critical role of unity and collective effort in realizing these goals.

“Our progress is undeniable, but we must continue striving until every Rwandan benefits from our achievements,” Kagame insisted. “We are dedicated to creating a Rwanda where opportunity and quality of life are accessible to all.”

During his speech, Kagame called on Rwandans to hold their leaders accountable and to actively engage in the nation-building process. “Together, with integrity and determination, we can build the Rwanda we all aspire to,” he urged.

The President’s resolute stance has resonated with many Rwandans who are eager for change and progress. As Kagame continues to guide the nation towards a brighter future, his commitment to overcoming past failures and fostering development and unity remains a central theme of his administration.
