Amahoro Stadium Inauguration: A Celebration of Resilience and Talent

Kigali, July 1, 2024 — Rwanda’s iconic Amahoro Stadium reopened today following a two-year renovation, marked by a grand ceremony attended by President Paul Kagame and Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The stadium, situated in the Gasabo district, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility poised to host international sporting events.

The Amahoro Stadium, originally built to accommodate 25,000 spectators, now boasts a capacity of 45,000. This significant expansion underscores Rwanda’s dedication to sports development and its ambition to become a prominent figure in African and global sports.

President Kagame expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Rwanda for their unwavering support during the stadium’s reconstruction. He also highlighted Dr. Motsepe’s influential role in inspiring the project, acknowledging his contributions as both the President of CAF and an advocate for sports infrastructure investment.
